of place time and memory
(being) in the osage is a sentiment
not a meaning
this work is an homage
to a feeling of being in place
both real imaginary and fragmented
beyond one's grasp to hold onto
far too soon memory begins
to fade in and beyond
an ever shifting movement
of that which is and was
and will continue to become
the expression of this is akin
to viewing the changing sky
as clouds drift in and by
the light shifts time meanders
and moves through our lives
it is a romance with the world
we long for narrative
to story begin and end
to form a meaning
wholly in the mind
albeit existing
but briefly
now
begin your walk through
a once beautiful but unkempt forest
the tangled trees choked with vines
the path unknown
filled with brambles and undergrowth
that tear at your clothes
then finally a clearing
a meadow of copper bronze bluestem
beckoning toward you in the breeze
looking west
as the fading red sun continues
a slow descent below the horizon
the stars begin through blue
the moon moves closer
the coyote mourning
you lie in the grass
and the deep sleep
of forever
begins anew

Below is a flat on the slope due west of museum.
The back side of the new construction will repurpose this area. The slope on the left leads up to the museum. Background sound: current HVAC system and a red tailed hawk.
